Challenge ACCepted

Monday, December 8, 2008

Half of this season's Big East bowl schedule of six games will feature match-ups with ACC teams. Two of the bowls (Orange - Cincy vs. VT and Meineke Car Care - WVU vs. UNC) pit two of the more high powered offensive teams in the Big East against gritty defensive teams of the ACC. Rutgers and NC State will go at it in the ever popular Papajohns.com Bowl to establish the better team that had to use the second half of the season to vault themselves into bowl status.

In other Big East bowl news, USF will take on former CUSA rival Memphis in the St. Petersburg Bowl (I wonder if Bulls fans will travel well for this one?). UCONN will travel north of the border to Toronto to take on a MAC champion Buffalo team led by hot coaching candidate Turner Gill, while Pitt will head to El Paso for the Sun Bowl against the almost SEC champ Oregon State Beavers.
